Minecraft continues its charge onto new systems with the announcement of a European launch for Vita on October 15. 4J Studios, the UK team that is porting the sandbox game game to North America, tweeted that there isn't a confirmed date as of yet.
The portable version of Minecraft can be purchased cross-buy with its PS3 cousin, which means when you've bought the game on PSN for PS3 it is possible to download it for free on Vita and vice versa. Back in May, Mojang, the developer, Mojang said the asking price was $20, as per PS3 and you can transfer saves between PS3 and Vita and DLC purchases are available across both versions.
Mojang announced at the time that it was working with Sony "to allow upgrades from Blu-ray disc Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition Minecraft: Playstation 3 and Vita". 1so blog We've contacted Sony to find out if players who have Minecraft on PS3 Blu-ray can also access the Vita version for free. We're still waiting on date of release for the Vita retail version. Next week's launch is limited to PSN.
It continues to be an active time at Minecraft HQ which is now Microsoft following the company's $2.5 billion acquisition of Mojang and its popular game. After its launch on the current-gen consoles' online storefronts Minecraft has its PS4 version available for sale at the time of writing. The Xbox One disc version is due in US stores on November 18.
