Neve ParitzkiJerusalem is home to the world's first bicycle tunnel in Israel.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
נווה פריצקי The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, the capital city.

The tunnel's southern entry point is located within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem about half one kilometer from the Kerem junction.

Inauguration of the tunnel which measures 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and the Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin stated that today along with its rich history, the tunnel project also incorporates modern-day tourism. נווה פריצקי "The opening of this tunnel project is a different element of the development of Jerusalem. Elkin's ministry, which was also in charge of the project together alongside Jerusalem Municipality, said that the ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels annually in all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism industry and is involved in developing exciting attractions and ventures which connect the glorious historic past of our eternal capital with the future." I would like to invite cyclists to ride a secure and modern-day route that takes you through Old Jerusalem.

The project was financed by the Elkin's Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was completed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool to realize the goal to alter the notion of transportation in Jerusalem," Elkin stressed. נווה פריצקי "The tunnel, which is being constructed to connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path will join the existing bike paths as well as those that will paved in its areas. The goal is to encourage biking among its residents and promote the green transport revolution in Jerusalem."

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate the main sewer line toward Sorek's purification plant.

Road construction, installation , and testing of electrical and safety systems are just a few of the ongoing efforts to ensure that the tunnel is secure throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreational areas, such as Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo and also the historical natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
