Technoblade, 'Minecraft' YouTube Creator, Dies Aged 23

Technoblade the top Minecraft YouTuber, has died aged 23 following a battle with cancer.



The father of the creator uploaded an animated video on YouTube on Thursday titled "so long nerds" with the message written by Technoblade himself. The video had been planned with his family members during his final months, but was written by Technoblade just eight hours before he died, his father said. In the message the rapper revealed his real name: Alex.



"Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you're watching this. I'm dead," he wrote in the message, read by his father. Minecraft servers "Thank you all for your support of my work over the years. I'm convinced Technoblade would be my choice if I had another hundred lives. They were the most enjoyable years of my life.



His father stated in the video that he was "the most amazing child you could ever ask for." Technoblade is my favorite.



Technoblade, who has 10.8 million followers on YouTube has announced his diagnosis of cancer on the platform in August 2021.



Technoblade's family released an announcement that appeared at the end of the video on Thursday.



"We as the Technoblade family wanted you to know how much he loved and respected his colleagues and fans." Technoblade was an online community since its beginnings. He was always seeking ways to please and reward his followers," it said.



"Even after his victories, he managed to keep his humble and jovial nature. He played with a charming balance of confidence and self-deprecating. He avoided personal fame and worked hard to keep his real identity confidential, and we ask you to honor his wishes to protect his privacy as well as the privacy of his family."



Technoblade's online shop also features an obituary that says that a portion of purchases will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. "This online store is operated by the Technoblade family. We're aware of the joy he's brought throughout the years and we want to make sure that we continue to spread his message," it reads.



A black T-shirt is just one of the items in the store. It is adorned with the words "so long geeks" under the design.



Technoblade's fans and friends have also shared touching tributes online to him. Some are collaborators and co-creators with Technoblade and others have been watching the YouTuber for a long time.



Hypixel, a Minecraft server for minigames, also uploaded an eloquent tribute. He was a frequent player on that server. In a statement, the founder and CEO Simon Collins-Laflamme described Technoblade as "one of the most internationally popular YouTubers."



"He will be remembered fondly and will be missed deeply," the post read. "He was a generous, talented, passionate young man with a lot of potential. We are so grateful to him and are happy to be able to count him as a prominent member of the larger community. Technoblade's success is in many ways linked to our success.



The team also advised users to pay tribute to "any main lobby" on the server, with the permission of Technoblade's family.



Technoblade started his channel in 2013 and quickly gained recognition. Technoblade has been described as "one of the best Minecraft players in the space of content creators".
