How to be Safe Online

Your new Xbox Live account gives you access to a myriad of settings to let you, and your familymembers, play how you want online. You can manage all of your settings at account.xbox.com/settings but here's a rundown of the most important ones:



"JOIN MULTIPLAYER GAMES" SETTINGS



If you have your settings set to block joining multiplayer games, you are unable to play multiplayer games on Minecraft including shared local worlds, Realms or servers. To enable multiplayer in Minecraft, make sure this setting is set to "Allow.'



"OTHERS can be able to communicate via voice, TXT, AND INVITES" SETTINGS



If your settings are set to block communications from other players, you will be able to join and participate in multiplayer games on Minecraft, but you won't see messages in chat from other players, or receive invitations to join in games with other players.



Children's Accounts - UNDER 13S



If you're under 13 years old, you will need your parents permission to sign up for an Xbox Live account. Parents can add a child account at https://account.microsoft.com/family/addmember.



All accounts of children are automatically blocked from communication and multiplayer. This means that children's accounts are not able to play in other players in their worlds, Realms, servers, or chat with others online until their parents log in to change the setting to enable multiplayer.

General Tips to Stay Safe ONLINE IN MINECRAFT



There are plenty of great guides for staying safe online (here's one we recommend!) but here are a few Minecraft-specific advice.



DO NOT SHARE YOUR Xbox Live Account PASSWORD



Your account does not only contain your personal information, but also if you own a Realm or have made a purchase in the marketplace, it is the record of all of your online purchases in Minecraft. Lionsroar It is not advisable to divulge your password or share your Xbox Live account.



THERE'S NO WAY TO GET FREE MINECRAFT COINS OR MARKETPLACE CONTENT



Anyone who requests account details or personal information and then promises you Minecraft Coins or content in exchange is doing no good! There is no way to obtain Coins or other content from the marketplace other than through the game and there's no way to send Coins to another player.
