Tasmania Open Door for Tim Paine to Take on a COACHING Role

The playing future of former captain of the Test team Tim Paine remains up the air and the door is open for the 37-year old to take on a coaching role with Cricket Tasmania.



Paine hasn't played since taking his time off the field last year in the lead-up to the Ashes series when a sexting scandal became public.



Tasmania Tigers coach Jeff Vaughan who signed on Thursday an agreement for five years to stay as head of the men's program He said he has yet to have any major meetings with Paine.



The veteran wicketkeeper of 35 Tests assisted the Tigers in coaching roles at the end of the Sheffield Shield season.



'Tim has been a wonderful leader in this team and I wish him all the best wherever (his future) goes, whether on the field or not as well,' Vaughan said.



Vaughan who was able to return to the Tigers' job after a 10-month stint in national assistant, said that he was interested in coaching state assistants.

I think (Paine has) got qualifications as a coach, a skill set. I haven't spoken with him in a long time about it,' he said.



"I know that he spoke about coaching after his career." We're not sure when is post-career.'



Paine's last hit-out was for a second XI match for Tasmania in the latter part of November. He attended Thursday's coaching announcement but didn't speak publicly.



Dominic Baker, Cricket Tasmania CEO, stated that Tim's organisation has been a strong ally of Tim's.



"That hasn't changed over the last twelve months. We will continue to stand by him as an organization, but he has to make the decisions (his future).



The 37-year old has taken on the role of coach this season, and has impressed officials.



Paine - who stood down as Australia captain after a sexting scandal - is believed to be thinking about weighing up his options



There could or might not be opportunities for him coming up. sexting.ink Tim's biggest hurdle is to determine his next step in his life.



Andrew Gaggin, chairman of Cricket Tasmania, lashed out at Cricket Australia for their handling on Paine's resignation from his Test captain position. He claimed that he was not a good fit.



Baker said the appointment of Vaughan, who held the position for the 2019/20 season was 'almost a clearing of the decks' for him to have the control of the state's football program.



Vaughan replaces interim head coach Ali de Winter.



Cricket Tasmania is searching for a new Hobart Hurricanes coach, after Adam Griffith's contract wasn't extended at the conclusion of the most recent BBL season, in which the franchise finished fifth.



Baker has denied suggestions Cricket Tasmania had spoken to former national coach Justin Langer about the role.
