Design and Build your next home In Minecraft Luis Quintanilla

Using Minecraft and Mods virtual representations of the real world can be constructed to train autonomous agents to navigate and perform tasks in this virtual environment. These virtual models can be used by physical agents, such as Boston Dynamics bots to implement the tasks and instructions learned from the virtual models. In the end, it is reasonable to imagine a scenario when we could design and have our house built in a short time duration by autonomous artificial agents.

It's difficult to define Minecraft as a concept. Is it an actual game? Or an educational tool? At first I didn't get it. I watched my younger siblings play this game endlessly constantly seeking ways to improve their worlds. It was eventually bought by Microsoft and the fundamental game has remained pretty much the same. Instead of putting it aside, Microsoft has expanded across more platforms and loaded it with numerous new features such as an education edition and cross-platform play. Redstone can be used to construct Minecraft cities, houses, and even basic circuit models. Mods, which are modifications to the default model, can be constructed by anyone.

Dynamic Mapping

A virtual world is great, but what do we know about the real world? Can we simulate the real world? A few months ago I came across a project by the New York Public Library which produced topographically accurate Minecraft maps using historical map scans and Python scripts. Although maps from the past aren't always precise, we can hope that modern mapping practices provide more information and detail. This project proves that it is possible to simulate real world conditions in a virtual environment with the right data.

Project Malmo

Apart from the obvious benefit of a model that is accurate, it also provides a starting point to teach autonomous agents how to navigate the environment. To assist in this effort, Project Malmo is an suitable tool. Project Malmo, a platform for artificial Intelligence research and experimentation that was built on Minecraft and released to the public by Microsoft Research in 2015. minecraft servers It is cross-platform and agents can be built in Python, Lua or C#.

Although Project Malmo's benefits aren't immediately apparent but they are extremely beneficial. Its cost is not only in terms of cost but also the time it takes to create physical autonomous bots is high. If they break or fail in field tests it could cost a lot. It might be more efficient to simulate the navigation and mobility in real-world scenarios using virtual environments.

Manual Labor

Once we've been trained, we have to locate or create the physical agents that can perform the task and follow instructions based on training performed in the virtual environments. Recent demonstrations have shown the existence of agents that may be able of handling such tasks. One of them is Boston Dynamics. For some time, Boston Dynamics has been developing anthropomorphic and zoomorphic robots that can perform incredible feats. It is only logical to assume that if a model has been trained in a real-world context they can perform a task like building a home.

It is possible to imagine a bot creating your home. According to reports, a Russian home was built in less than 24 hours with 3-D printing technology. Although the house was pre-designed and the robot arm that constructed it was not mobile, its capabilities could be augmented through a trained model executed using sophisticated physical autonomous agents like those manufactured by Boston Dynamics.
