The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft are due to launch in August for $20, Mojang announced today. On Xbox One and PS4, the game costs $5 for people who already have Minecraft on Xbox 360 or PS3. Cross-buy title Vita edition, meaning that when you already have Minecraft for PS3 or Xbox 360, you can download it on Vita free of charge. All PS3 DLC will work in the Vita edition, however, not all skins and texture packs can be played on PS4 and Xbox One versions due to licensing agreements.
Minecraft: The Xbox One and PS4 editions offer larger worlds than current-gen versions. Both allow players to import saved data from PS3 + Vita and Xbox 360 games. However, saves won't transfer from next-gen systems to current-gen ones.
"There are technical reasons for this: we can create worlds that are bigger without too much stress, but reducing them causes all kinds of issues," Mojang says.
