A proper Nintendo Wii gaming PC now is available, and the small stealth model can run Minecraft at 4K. This custom build can handle popular games like Fortnite and Rocket League thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and a few clever console shell modifications.
AlexTriesTech developed the Nintendo Wii gaming computer, also known as 'WiiC', which is a low-spec console disguised as a family console. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500U-powered machine can play Wii games using Dolphin however, it's fully-fledged Windows 11 system and will run a large portion of your Steam library.
The insides of the WiiC originally belonged to the mini Ryzen APU PC, but AlexTriesTech has trimmed the system's motherboard to make it fit inside the Nintendo Wii's compact chassis. To make the build fit the Nintendo WiiC, they have eliminated extras such as Gamecube controller ports as well as its original disc drive. The sell also features modifications that improve airflow, decrease the throttle on CPUs, and ultimately increase the speed of the game.
The project is the result of months worth of tweaking, but the finished product appears to be a fully functional Nintendo Wii. It's even covered with RGB lighting, which can replicate the blue glow of the original console's disc slot.
While the Wii stealth rig may seem like a novelty, benchmarks show that it's much more than just a joke. The micro machine can run over 100fps in Fornite, can run Rainbow Six: Siege at 1080p 60fps and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is just about playable on a compact PC. As we mentioned earlier, it can manage Minecraft at 4K, which means you can pair it with the most powerful gaming monitor and enjoy the block game of the past at the highest resolution.
