So you've finally realised you were born without the Fashion gene. You walk along the streets, oblivious to why there would function as the need for multiple men's fashion retailer. The word accessories sends shivers down your spine... You think only women must own over two pairs of shoes and foam as well as a razorblade are the only toiletries you may need...
Then before you know you wake up and the 21st Century. Shavers are electric, shirts come in "fitted", "tailored" and "regular", guys who seem like girls walk arm-in-arm with beautiful women and what's worst, most of the male population have woken up clued high on all of it and you haven't.
You feel stuck in the nightmare. You need new attire.
With cold sweat still dripping down your forehead, you venture on the uncharted territories with the City Centre shopping district, where window after window, faceless plastic men make an effort to lure you within empty promises of the slick new look.
You give in on the Sirens' call. With your heart kicking within your throat, you enter the dragon's den. As you negotiate on your path through the isles as being a brave warrior inside a shiny armour fighting from the dark hordes from the Underworld, you at long last get on the Mens' section - this also happens when you realise it is not gonna be quite as easy as slaying a dragon: All items include labels with numbers and letters. To make your daily life misery someone has decided to cause them to become come in all kinds of various sizes and shapes!
You plan to brave the jeans.
"Relaxed fit", "Boot Cut", "Straight", "Skinny Leg".
"Straight", you select, may be the shape that least threatens your masculinity - now it is simply just a few picking a number: 28 sounds like a good score, and it is the age Susan, girls in High-School you had that immense crush on, will be now.
Knowing much too well fitting rooms are only for girls, you proudly make your way towards the checkout, grabbing a white shirt on your path. Since for reasons unknown they do not make shirts in a 28, the correct number sure has to be Susan's age back in High School: a 15 will fit just perfect.
With your mind high, you stroll back home already savouring every one of the compliments you will get out of your friends and colleagues, only to discover when you at long last use them on that this clothes you so proudly marched home with, would barely fit Susan's slender frame.
You've just wasted another $100. So how do you avoid this from happening again? How do you find clothes that you'll end up wearing?
First, you should know very well what makes clothes work with you. If you could make a choice simply one quality in an item of clothing - when you even consider colour, fabric, pattern or style - any particular one, essential quality is FIT.
Remember, Mens jeans online like colour, style and pattern are subject for the volatile nature of Fashion and individual taste, while the only absolute constant is FIT.
Whether brown or paisley or pinstripes look nice is perhaps all reliant on WHO and WHEN - that is certainly, personal taste and current trend in Fashion. That is what you would call "subjective judgement". If they fit or not is objective. They either do or they don't really.
Have you ever heard someone say "the fit is in the eye with the beholder"? That's because it isn't.
So, with Fit in mind I am now planning to coach you on one trick that you can implement immediately which means you will not again waste money on items of clothing that don't fit.
Here's what you will need:
- A tapemeasure
- A business card which has a blank back
- A pen
- Five minutes.
Ready? Let's start!
There are FIVE sizes every man should be aware of about himself - these will help you to immediately identify items which fit you and also build your shopping experience an easy and hassle-free one.
SIZE A: Collar
If the very first thing you do when leave work for residence is loosen your collar button and pull down your tie, your shirt collar doesn't fit.
A study by Cornell University demonstrated that 70% of men wear their shirts too tight.
You shouldn't experience discomfort when wearing a dress shirt and tie.
Place the measuring tape around your neck with the point just underneath your Adam's apple and pull to a point where it's still comfortable. That is the collar size. It can be used mainly to measure shirt size.
There must be enough room to suit your fore and middle fingers in the collar once you're wearing your shirt.
SIZE B: Chest
Hold your arms out about 2 feet out of your body, position the measuring tape around your system, just beneath your armpits: That circumference will be your chest size.
If a garment shows creases just below your armpits, across your chest, it can be too small.
This is employed to look at the fit of suits and blazers.
SIZE C: Waist
Wrap the tape around your system at the point just above your navel, pull the tape very tight then slacken it back until it feels comfortable but very firm. The more "padded" the waist, the harder the tape will sink into our bodies.
If this size is not tight enough the trousers will either begin to slip down when active or fit with the crotch too low along with the knees over your shins.
This can be used to measure the fit of trousers.
SIZE D: Inside Leg
This is used to appraise the drop of trousers and jeans.
It's the length from your crotch on the soft right within your foot, through your ankle bone. Too long is practically never a difficulty as it could be shortened, but way too short could mean there may stop enough fabric to let out.
SIZE E: Shoes
The height and width of your foot both within your regional (UK, US) and European size - it is handy to understand both since the majority classy and premium leather shoes (ie: Italian leather) are available in Euro sizes, and also the conversion often gets put together towards the next number up, leaving an excessive amount of room for inaccuracy. Refer to a conversion chart and make a note of both sizes.
Finally, write each of the above in the back of the business card, which will fit neatly inside your wallet and will be easily available whenever you're out shopping next.
Voila', you can forget wardrobe disasters.
