Looks like your flying friends could be having company when it's time to, um... play as Markus Persson has confirmed to Gamasutra that an iOS port is "in the working." That means that an official Minecraft build will soon pop on the Apple App Store, with iPhone and iPad versions hinted at. wikimedia The port is being done by Aron Neiminen (a new recruit to Mojang's team) and is expected to be released later in the year, in the event that everything goes according to plan. Persson also confirmed that the iOS version will not receive all the updates that the original browser / download versions receive, but it will be granted "granted features that are suitable for the touchscreen platform." You can raise your hand when you're in a state of extreme excitement.

Update 2: Even though the video after the break doesn't contain the game's official version however, it's an impressive third-party client. Unfortunately, it's also been removed from the App Store.
