Caves & Cliffs: Part II is in development at Mojang as the next major Minecraft upgrade . You are able to test the latest world generation in a special build.
It's a huge change in the way the world is built in Minecraft, so Mojang decided to approach things in a different way this time. In contrast to normal testing, this is not an official Snapshot that you download through the launcher. Instead, you should visit their blog to read instructions and a link to download the Snapshot.
While it's all subject to change, here's a few things that are different:
- New world heights and depths - New mountain biomes (lofty peak, snowcapped peaks , grove, meadow and snowy slopes). Caves - New cave formation (cheese and spaghetti caves) and local water levels. Cave biomes are created naturally underground and within mountains (lush Caves and dripstone caves). Natural variation in the shape of terrain and elevation, separate from biomes. For example forests and deserts may develop on a hill without the need for a separate biome for this.
