Minecraft has been updated to pay tribute to the popular streamer Technoblade who died of cancer was announced by his family last week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now features the pig sporting a gold crown, a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character the royal pig-man, sporting an extravagant crown.
The Minecraft team tweeted on Friday that they were "heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade," writing that he "brought many joy" to the community of the game.
We have been trying to find the words however, we all here at Minecraft are grieving over the loss of Technoblade. He was a great friend and brought joy to our community. He will be missed greatly.
Technoblade was a well-known Minecraft streamer with more than 13 million subscribers on YouTube. Technoblade was also a part of the hit server Dream SMP. Technoblade's father sent a message from Technoblade and discussed the work involved in creating the final video in the midst of Technoblade was fighting cancer. As of this writing, it has more than 54 million views.
Game servers
Tributes to Technoblade have poured in from other streamers and members of the Minecraft creator community. Many pieces of fanart were also posted to Twitter in honor of Technoblade in the last days.
The Minecraft team hasn't explicitly acknowledged the splash screen's updated yet, but they've clearly pushed out this small change to honor. Although the original launcher image still shows an ox in the same location however, it doesn't have the trademark crown of Technoblade.
