Mojang's sandbox builder-'em-up Minecraft remains a game on the Xbox 360, surpassing 12 million units sold by this month.

"It is quite amazing!" Mojang's Daniel Kaplan said in response to the new sales milestone. "I remember when we first started talking about sales numbers , that we would be delighted to sell 1,000,000 copies. This would have placed us in the same league as Battlefield 1943 or Castle Crashers, both of which are great games so that was something we could aim for. We never dreamed of selling 12 million!"
Minecraft has previously exceeded 10 million in sales in December of last year. Mojang and its development partner 4J Studios will continue to bring up-to-date Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition with new content in the coming months, including the Candy Texture Pack due to launch on April 18.
