The Minecraft RTS Spinoff is Inventing new Enemies, Too.

Similar to Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs for Minecraft.

Minecraft Legends creative director Magnus Nedfors and executive producer Dennis Ries sat down during the Xbox booth livestream at Gamescom this week to share some new information on Legends as well as details on some new mobs-both friend and foe. Mojang Interactive and Blackbird Interactive are launching a new RTS spinoff that will be a major hit in the Minecraft world, like previous genres. Dungeons stepped out of the boundaries of Minecraft mythology to create mobs that fit its action RPG world and Legends is following suit.



As we saw in the first trailer, the big baddies of Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether denizens and the Piglins. Legends will add the "Pigmadillo" to the mix. It is a creature that crouch down in a cube , and, contrary to what you might think based on the geometrical structure of a cube's physical properties it is able to roll offensively towards its object. There are also "Bruisers" that Ries points out have two giant razor blades that can be used. Bit horror-esque, innit? Both mobs made an appearance in the new cinematic trailer that Mojang showcased.



Over on the friendly side two kinds of golem will join your army The Cobblestone Golem, who is said to be great at destroying enemy structures, and also what is sounded like Ries calls a "Plank Golem" which is a ranged unit. You can also make use of speed wheat and a special mushroom to jump higher to travel around the globe and unlock new Legends areas.



Minecraft Dungeons also introduced new mobs such as the Iceologers or Mountaineers. The Iceologers were included in the Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote for which mob to add to Vanilla Minecraft. They lost to the Glow Squid, however I wouldn't be shocked to see one of these new Legends baddies getting the same chance at Vanilla Minecraft fame.



And in case you missed it, there's badgers at the start of the trailer, too. Project Badger was the codename for Minecraft Legends before it was disclosed, which might be all it takes to make a reference to. However, it's possible that it will make its way to official mob status too.
