With separate maintenance schedules and occasionally down times It's useful to know WoW's server statuses. Every realm in WoW Classic and the current game is subject to intermittent interruptions. It's important to know that Blizzard is the problem and not you. There's a good way to view realm status at any time.

Blizzard's official Realm Status page is available on the website. It includes all realms from the WoW Classic and modern games. Every realm is listed by its kind, population size, and time zone. You can also switch the region at the right side of the screen. On the far left is the status icon which determines whether or not the realm is accessible to you. This is the place to check if you're trying to log in to your character on a maintenance or launch day for an update.
A quick search for WoW realm status will show a few websites that look like the official site. I'd be careful using those over the official site, however they're a good place to see if for any reason the Blizzard's site is down. Logging in is the best method to find out whether the realms are down. Sometimes, you can view an updated list of the status of all realms as well as their status. This was a key method to get into WoW Classic last year for name reservations.
You can also find people shouting about servers being down on Twitter and Discord. You're not alone in those moments of need. We all would like to log back in to complete our World Quests and leveling. If there's a future outage, our collective patience will help the servers come back up quicker. I hope.
