Minecraft is a well-known open world game that can play on your own or in a multiplayer. You'll need to lease or host a server in order to play the game multiplayer. Hosting a server is usually preferred since it is likely to be cheaper than renting. Here are some tips to help you host your server.
Download the program
You should download the minecraft program from the minecraft website and save it on your computer.
Before downloading the application make sure your computer is compatible. For instance, you should to make sure that your computer has a fast CPU and enough RAM.
You need the most recent version of Java to play minecraft. Window computers usually don't come with java installed so you'll need to download it from the java website.
Java is usually installed on Mac computers. They also update automatically. You can download the most recent Java version from the Java website if your Mac does not have it.
Prepare the program for use
After downloading minecraft, you will need to prepare it for use. If you are using a Windows computer, you will need to double-click on the file you saved the program to. After double-clicking, you will be presented with an interface window and a series of messages.
If you are using a Mac computer, you'll need to create an executable file. You do this by opening TextEdit and from the format menu, select 'make plain text'.
You should then copy the instruction: '#!/bin/bash cd "$(dirname "$0")" exec java -Xmx1G -Xms1G -jar minecraft_server.jar' then save the file in the same file that you had saved the downloaded minecraft.
You can customize the way you want to play the game
This can be done by accessing the server's properties file. You do this using a notepad in windows or TextEdit in MacOs. After setting the settings, save the settings.
If you want to play in survival mode, for instance you can leave the game mode set to "0". However should you want to play in the creative mode, you'll need to change the game mode to "I".
Decide who has access to the game
It is only necessary to edit the file by adding the usernames of the players you wish to access the server. After each username, press Enter to save.
Find your public IP address.
This is the address that you provide to anyone who wishes to connect to the server but isn't part of your immediate network. It is easy to locate the IP address by performing an internet search using a query like "what is my IP address"
