The Illegal Architecture was created by 145 people, brought together by the Minecraft Architects Project, a Japanese group. Organiser DamboRu says that they realized in the beginning that this would lead to "organised chaos." games They decided to design the theme according to. "As many people who were unfamiliar with each other took part in the event, we decided that the theme should allow for people to build in various styles of architecture, yet allow the build to be integrated as one piece of art." For that they decided that illegal architecture was the perfect choice.
Dambo-Ru says that the people who were organizing the event didn't intend to restrict anyone's creativity, so they didn't "decide on a strategy.The build was a success because "Each participant built as they liked." Some parts of the event were live-streamed and the management team utilized this to highlight the gaps that needed to be filled though "some skilled people helped fill in gaps naturally, by mixing styles of builds," on their own.
