Cairngorms recreated in video game Minecraft

The Cairngorms is a landscape recreated in the video game Minecraft to help youngsters learn how to manage a national park.
The virtual world allows players to build anything using blocks. It covers 1,700 sq miles (4,402 km) of the park which also comprises parts of Highland, Moray and Aberdeenshire.
The settlements were destroyed, and Cairngorms Youth Activity Team members are being requested to establish new communities.
It is designed to get them thinking about the ways in which decisions for planning are made.
It's reasonable to say, however, that the team does not take it seriously.
Minecraft creates remote islands
Sixteen-year-old Campbell from Aviemore says he has been constructing a hill fort at the top of Cairn Gorm which is one of the UK's highest mountains.
He explained that , even though it doesn't transmit temperature well, it does transmit the temperature to the surrounding landscape.
"We've seen corries and climbed the Cairngorms. The Lairig Ghru is quite recognisable.
It's as accurate and realistic as possible. The different types of trees will show you the location you're in and whether there are trees.
Ellie Moore, a fellow player, said that "while we're trying to construct things and farm , there's constantly a flurry of monsters or enemies that appear at night."
"So, it's been quite hard to venture into the world as you're constantly fighting to survive but I'd say that where we've been thus far is pretty precise."
Dan Harris worked in his spare time to create the park.
In the day, he's a in charge of planning for the Cairngorms National Park Authority.

He explained that they were "basically dropped on the map at Aviemore and asked to form a community or neighborhood that meets the objectives of the national park."
"So, things they have to begin thinking about are ways to protect and enhance the natural environment and how they make sustainable use of resources."
