When online seminar has unique video events, never watch them, just get video file instead.
This applies to any live video that is limited in duration or is only accessible to subscribers. It hasn't stopped my use. My internet at home is slow and unstable. This is because I'm using the wifi mobile hotspot at the motel. Sometimes, I deliver water to their office and snatch their password which changes every couple of weeks. I save money by not having to buy my own internet. You don't need an internet connection at home for this to be a breeze. I'm not worried about it and prefer to use the internet at my motel. It lets me to be more discrete. I prefer not to be able to identify my address when using the internet.

Therefore, whenever an online seminar is provided by my investment advisor or my school has a lecture with a well-known professor, or even if there's a underground party streaming, the stream will be exactly the same. My internet connection is slow, which means that I cannot stream live video. It usually takes 2-3 times to download the video to my computer. As I will demonstrate, my connection is slow and it's only about 30 percent of what I require to watch the video smoothly and without buffering interruptions. It was so slow that my internet connection was unable to handle it, so I found a solution to it. I saved the online video onto my PC so it could be watched over and over again.



This is exactly what I've been doing recently. I'm using Chrome browser, Firefox or Safari to open the inspect tab. Click on the right-click and then open the page to inspect. Switch to the network tab and search for the video playlist. It is likely to be with the extension m3u8 in the file list. Sometimes, it could have an alternative extension. However the characters you see will be displayed and will indicate a fragment playlist for your video. The video stream is broken up into several small files that your internet browser downloads one after another and plays them in order and ensures that you get a continuous video stream. This process is seamless and requires more data transfer than the file size, but this is how MPEG transport streams are set up and we shouldn't complain.



Then I click on the playlist and copy its URL address (into the clipboard), then I navigate to the website to download online video. After entering the video playlist URL, I hit the submit button. Within a few seconds, I'm presented with several download options. Each option indicates the possible final size of the file, time to transfer and much more. The larger the file, the higher the quality. I prefer to pick lower quality even if it is too fast for my Internet.




I downloaded the file. It's usually the format mp4 used for video files. It could take hours, but the reward of knowing is the reason I keep going. I'm not able to tune to live broadcasts, so I save the video online to my personal computer.
