While RF radiation isn't thought to directly harm DNA, it can cause heat to accumulate in body tissue that could cause burning or damage to tissue. Contrary to ionizing radiation RF radiation is not believed to cause cancer. However, some studies show an increase in tumors in laboratory animal models exposed to RF radiation.

There are numerous federal agencies that are involved in regulating and monitoring the impacts on the body of RF radiation on the human body.
