James Whitfield Thomson

James Whitfield Thomson is a writer from the North Side of Pittsburgh. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Ph.D. in American Studies. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Massachusetts Council on the Arts grant for his first novel, The Ledge. Although he is a relatively new author, he already has a large following.

Agni

Author James Whitfield Thomson grew up in the North Side of Pittsburgh and attended Harvard College on a full scholarship. He then earned a Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. After earning his degree, Thomson served in the U.S. Navy as a supply ship navigator in Vietnam. He has published two novels, Agni and The Ledge. His books are often described as "dark and strange" and he has received a grant from the Massachusetts Council on the Arts.

Thomson, who also founded a start-up company in 1978, has been a busy man ever since. His company controlled the photocopy machines in accounting and law firms. It was very profitable, but it has long since been acquired by a larger company. jameswhitfieldthomson.com is now revising a fifteen-year-old novel called "The Jukebox King" set in Pittsburgh. The book is an autobiographical novel about a man who has become a successful businessman.

The Ledge

The Ledge by James Whitfield Thomson is a novel of suburban New England. Originally from Pittsburgh, the former Marine attended Harvard College on a scholarship. He earned a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Pennsylvania and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Thomson is currently writing his third novel, which is based on his sister's death in 1974. He has won numerous awards for his writing.

The Ledge is Thomson's debut novel, which was published by Sourcebooks in fall 2013. It is a true story, based on the death of Thompson's own sister in 1974. Although it is not considered a classic, it has received numerous literary awards. Thompson's literary accomplishments are not in short supply; he is a member of Harvard's Writers' Workshop. For his debut novel, Thomson received the prestigious Massachusetts Cultural Council Literary Fellowship.

His debut novel

James Whitfield Thomson's debut novel is one of the most impressive literary works of recent years. He's a former sales executive, a Vietnam War navigator, and an early member of Andre Dubus's writers' workshop. Thomson lives in Natick, Massachusetts, and was one of the first members of Dubus's workshop, as well. In this book, he explores the nature of human emotion and deception in a complex, yet humane, novel.

Lies You Wanted to Hear by James Whitfield Thomson is a breathtaking debut novel that blends the complicated relationships of Wally Lamb and Gillian Flynn with the debilitating suspense of Gillian Flynn. It is the story of two families whose lives collide when one of them lies about their past, and of a fissure between them that becomes too large to bridge. When two children leave for the military, their mother, Lucy, finds herself alone in an empty house. Her role in this heartbreaking loss haunts her with guilt and regret.
