Microsoft's long-awaited xCloud game streaming service is officially launched on the 15th of April with more than 150 games. One of the games that will be available is Minecraft Dungeons, and Microsoft has just announced that developers Mojang Studios and Double Eleven are making it easier to play the game on the go by optimizing it for the use of touchscreens. You can now play the game on your Android tablet or smartphone without the need to connect an external controller.
Almost all Xbox games in xCloud were created with the Xbox controller as the primary focus. Microsoft assumes that most gamers will be using the controller by connecting it to their smartphones. Microsoft wanted the game's interface to feel natural to mobile devices. This means it will feature touch controls and a new user interface that is more suited to small screens. This will allow players to navigate inventories or menus, and any texts that could be associated with them.
MINECRAFT
For optimizing the game for touch, Microsoft notes that moves players use the most (move melee, move attack and dodge) are located in the most "intuitive" places on the screen. The idea is that the whole experience will feel as if the game was created with mobile in mind rather than touch controls being an afterthought. Of course, we'll need to play the game to judge whether they worked however it's a positive indicator to see Microsoft considering ways to make games work as best they can when being played away from your TV and console.
