Steiner's contribution to transpersonal psychological research

Rudolf Steiner's Psychosophy is a significant contribution to transpersonal psychology. The work explores the interconnectedness of spirit and matter, the origins of consciousness, and the modern soul's development. Steiner insists on the importance of the holistic development of the senses.

Steiner's psychology aims at self-development and initiation. In this way, he posited that to become "I Am" means to accept the divine "I Am" and become a participant in the evolution of the cosmos. While Steiner did not deny the traditional psychology approach which focuses on ego-based functions the transpersonal approach addresses many of the issues that are associated with other approaches.


Dr. Steiner also has contributed to the field of psychotherapy. He spoke at an international conference in 1997 that focused on psychotherapy in Dornach (Switzerland). In the following year, he became a founding member of the International Federation of Anthroposophic Psychotherapy (IFAPA) and has lectured in Brazil and in various other countries.

Steiner's ideas are based upon the phenomenological concepts. He identified the connection between the soul and bodily systems and explained the legality of biological and organic development. He also outlined seven archetypal life stages. His ideas have become foundational for the study of human development and have influenced many aspects of anthroposophical medical and therapeutic practices.

Transpersonal psychology is a legitimate science. Jung's view into a trans-personal psychology

Carl Gustav Jung is one of the founder fathers of transpersonal psychology. He was more open in his attitude towards religion and spirituality. His views on psychology and physics were inspired by the world around him and the inner life of individuals. Jung used the theories of cognitive science to discover connections between archetypes of the mind as well as the fundamental structuring structures of language. His research led to the development of the Myer's Briggs personality test and the lie detector.

From Jung's concept of the collective unconscious, trans-personal psychology evolved. In the 1970s, the term transpersonal was a term used in the academic world. While he was generally ignored by the scientific community, his ideas on the will played a significant role in the development of trans-personal psychology.

myers–briggs type indicator is rapidly expanding its understanding of the transpersonal perspective. Many disciplines, including neuroscience and neurobiology, are now studying this concept. Anthrology and spiritual traditions are two other areas of research. Psychotherapy, guided imagery and psychopharmacology have all been influenced by the transpersonal perspective.

Although transpersonal psychology has given some recognition by the academic world, it has also been criticized. socionics were aware that their work would be viewed with skepticism. Their work was based upon a thorough introspection and the methods they used were criticized by certain outsiders.

Transpersonal psychology recognizes both the positive and negative outcomes of spiritual development. This is a crucial concept because spiritual development has been linked with both health-enhancing as well as health-threatening outcomes. Psychology has to continue to develop and grow from its decrepitude. For instance Brentano's Psychology first volume was published in 1874. He announced the publication of the second volume the same year, however he didn't finish it. This wasn't surprising, given that Brentano did not have time to complete the second volume.

Psychosophy is a technique which teaches people to express and develop their consciousness. It offers coaching, counseling as well as education methods. Its goal is to enable individuals to be conscious participants in humanity's global journey and to help create an entire new civilization founded on joy.
