WoW has been going through a period of change in China recently. The9 failed to get approval from the Chinese government to allow Wrath of the Lich King to be published. This could have led to Blizzard licensing the operation of WoW to Netease in China.
In the midst of all this there were players who were stuck in the middle. They had their availability for play up in the air and were in the middle of Kil'jaedan's death as they waited in awe for Northrend. That said, there's still some players who have taken the matter to their own. Stars of China decided to move to Taiwanese servers where Wrath had already been released. They have settled on the Crystalpine Stinger server quite well, and have defeated Mimiron on 25 man Hard Mode, making them the second guild to accomplish this feat.
It's an amazing achievement in and of itself. But, can we learn anything about the future WoW in China? datchley's blog While not all Chinese players will have the enthusiasm or desire to switch to an Taiwanese server to level up their characters, it looks that there are at least some. There's a chance that there could even be a possibility that a couple of players will try out World of Fight just to get something new to play without Wrath.
Whether or not this Taiwan migration will have a major impact on WoW in China is yet to be determined however for the moment, the only thing we know is that the Stars guild is certainly stellar. They deserve congratulations!
