How can you get hold of Minecraft capes you think? There are rumors, whispers of the mythical piece of cloth that graces the shoulders of the most elite Minecraft players. The legends talk of numerous Minecraft capes handed out to the lucky few over the years. Capes can also alter the appearance of Minecraft Elytra (the magical wings found in end-ships) in that they share the same space on a player’s back. Needless to say, Minecraft capes are extremely sought-after however, they're not easy to get.
Participants who attended any Minecon event before Minecon Earth 2017 each received Minecraft capes every year, there was a new color and design. The personal caps are rarer that are awarded to people for their accomplishments. Reddit user U/billyk_ received a turtle cape for suggesting that Mojang add turtles to Minecraft.

Change your Minecraft account's settings to get a Minecraft cape
In a blog post in 2020, Mojang announced that it will be migrating all Minecraft Java edition accounts from Mojang to Microsoft. This is a requirement, so if you don't change your account when the time is right and you don't get it, you'll be allowed to play Minecraft unless you utilize the launcher.
On the bright side, though after you sign into Minecraft using your Microsoft account, you'll gain access to a brand new cape and maybe more than that, as Mojang promises players more than one outfit to show off'. New Minecraft accounts are automatically created with Microsoft instead of Mojang.

How to activate Minecraft caps
If you have an official Minecraft cape, you can equip them prior to starting an online game. The capes you have Bedrock caps are only available in the version you have chosen. The same applies to any capes you get in the Minecraft Java version.
Open the app and click the button to open the Dressing Room from your main menu. Next, click on the tab to left, which has red capes and Mojang's logo. This will show all available capes. Select one to equip.
To get the Java version, open the Launcher and click Minecraft: Java Edition on the left side of each tab. You will be presented with a range of options that include Skins. Click this link to open all your current skins. From here, you can either create an entirely new skin or modify an existing one. Under the option to choose a Skin File, you will be able to view all of your available capes.
Find a cape by using Minecraft mods
What if you would like your avatar to sport a cape right now but you're not interested in the free cape that you can use for your migration? With the help of mods, you can create your own cape to ring behind you as you walk!
