We need to have a talk to address some things because one thing that we’re not going to do is lie about anything that happened that night. Everything needs to be laid out, otherwise it’s going to change our relationship forever and it shouldn’t be another situation like Co Ba’s.

I pointed out a few truths that night and you got mad at me for I don’t even know what reason.

You came up to my face like you were about to hit me when you were drunk. That doesn’t make me feel safe at all. I’m not a kid, I’m a grown adult. I’ve been moved out, my bills are paid, I have my own independence in that way.

You’re not going to yell at me and get in my face and expect for me to stay in a daughter’s place. You talk about the relationship you have with Ba Noi all the time, if you really believed in that elder Vietnamese stuff you’d have a good relationship with your mom and that’s the truth. When something is done wrong to you, you don’t just sit there and take it, so why would you ever expect it from me? I never grew up with Vietnamese customs, I’m an American girl, if you wanted a Vietnamese daughter you would have had me in Vietnam. No one was disrespecting anybody and no one was telling anyone what to do. But you kept repeating that.

I pointed out a truth about grandpa and you got mad at me for it. I said I wanted grandpa’s phone number because it doesn’t make any sense for me to be the person that reconnected the family, but still not be contacted or to not have a relationship with him.

I don’t care that he talked to Tony on Thanksgiving, that’s not what I’m upset about.

You have plans to see Tony and grandpa before you even made plans to visit me in Charlotte to see if I need anything. I’ve been here for several months now.

Just because you invite me over and cook, it seems that’s all our relationship is right now.
It’s not like you care to talk to me when I’m there.

You say you leave your door open, but you don’t give the same love that we give you.

The family can talk about what’s cheap, a $9000 necklace saying that’s cheap, brag about what you can spend on, music systems and equipment, but you’re asking for $2000 back for your own daughter that had a situation where one of us was sick and went to the hospital.
