Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Has Just Dropped - Operation Riptide

It appears that Valve was actually teasing something to be revealed for Counter-Strike Global Offensive this week. Today, the studio has launched the FPS game's upcoming major operation, Riptide, which brings an array of brand new game modes and maps, gameplay changes as well as challenges.



You can get the latest Steam operation pass to gain the CS:GO option Riptide. This update introduces significant changes to the way you shoot in the shooter. One of them is a new feature that allows private matchmaking queues. This lets you create a code for sharing with your friends or other people in the same Steam group. Riptide also allows players to select between two match lengths on official (competitive) servers for CSGO Short (MR16), or long (MR30). Or you can choose to go with no preference when you're set on any of these match lengths. Team Deathmatch now has more options. You can pick from "Classic Deathmatch", Team Deathmatch (first team with 100 kills wins), or Deathmatch for free. All players are enemies.



There are also updates to the Demolition and Arms Race game mode, with a change to the weapon progression in each. There are other changes that can be seen in the overview.



There will be rewards for Riptide as it goes live, just like the previous CS games. You'll earn stars by completing weekly missions and can then spend on new agents - such as "Guerrilla Warfare Terrorists, CT SEAL team 'Frogmen' and the French Gendarmerie" as well as new items including four new weapon collections as well as other cosmetics.



In terms of maps the fan-created, almost Far Cry 5-like map County which we first reported on earlier in the year - was added to CS:GO official matchmaking for Danger Zone mode. Basalt and Insertion II are now in the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes the pool for competitive matchmaking, as well, while Ravine and Extraction have been added to Wingman's official matchmaking pool. Grind, Mocha and Pitstop have been removed. There are also adjustments to Dust 2, Inferno and Ancient in Valve's patch notes.



Riptide's gameplay enhancements include the ability to drop grenades as regular weapons, and an enhancement to body damage (M4A1-S) for the Deagle. Dual Elites are now less expensive, and vision after death has been dropped to 2.0s from 3.0s (0.5s down from 1.0s for vision after headshot).
