It's unlikely that Minecraft will be able to meet its August release date on PS4 after it failed Sony's certification tests. This means that it's back to the fixing board for 4J Studios, and the team will need to submit the game for certification before it can be released.
4J has been busy resolving bugs and issues throughout the month, not just in the PS4 version but in the coming Xbox One and Vita releases too. We approached the studio to confirm the delay and to find out if it would affect the PS4 version only or other platforms. All three versions are due for release this month.
Sony discovered a few issues during #MinecraftPS4's final test. THE SWISS ROCKETMAN We are working to fix them, however we still need to go through the whole procedure again.

Xbox 360 and PS3 owners can upgrade to Xbox One or PS4 for $5, and this offer will be available for at least one year following the release date. What's new in the new ports expect bigger worlds and more draw distances than previous console releases.
The Vita version is cross-buy with PS3. This means that those who bought Minecraft on the console will get the handheld port free of charge, whereas new buyers will be able to unlock the game on Vita and PS3. The price to grind your pickaxe on Vita as with all other ports is $20.
