A Teenager is Arrested in Connection with a Mass School Bomb Hoax

A teenager thought to be at the center of an Minecraft gamers squabble was arrested following an attack on a massive bomb shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK.



Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old following 24,000 threats to schools were sent warning of a bomb attack , and asking for cash.



The emails were spoofed to look as if they were sent by a gaming platform called VeltPvP. VeltPvP is an online Minecraft player against-player server, is the same kind of service that companies use to sell their products to gamers.



Following a massive bomb hoax that shut down schools in hundreds across the UK A teenager believed to be at the centre of a Minecraft gamers' feud was detained by Hertfordshire police. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 emails were sent to schools informing them of an impending attack.



The emails were aimed at cause the domain to be shut down for abuse - and are believed to be from an organization that wanted to discredit VeltPvP.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) said there was 'no credible threat to the emails' that were received this week.

They acknowledged that they were aware of the concerns of teachers and parents, but stressed that there was no real threat from the emails that were sent to schools.



'However we are taking the communications extremely seriously. Since this is a live investigation, we are unable to provide further information.'



Signs were erected outside Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.



The parties involved in the fight claimed opponents had engaged in illegal acts to hinder each other's business.



When asked whether he regretted the effect the letters had on the school children who were compelled to leave, one of the hoaxers said, "It is terrible, it'sn't the nicest thing."



Placing the blame on VeltPvP, the hoaxer said VeltPvP was involved in a series of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he claims were employed to attempt to block other competitors' Minecraft servers.



Parents were urged to collect their children after the threat of a bomb hoax email



VeltPvP released a statement saying that they were being targeted and hounded by cybercriminals.



"We are extremely sorry for anyone who has been affected by this, but we just want to let you know that this is not real."



More than 400 colleges and schools across the nation received the email which claimed that a bomb was planted and would explode if cash wasn't handed over.



Cardinal Road School, Feltham, West London was one of the schools to receive the hoax email.



Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those conducting an investigation.



Some parents requested to be allowed to collect their children from school amid concerns over the emails.

Six schools across Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
