Minecraft continues to make its mark on new systems with a European launch for Vita on October 15. 4J Studios, the UK team that is bringing the sandbox game to North America, tweeted that there isn't an official date as of yet.
Cross-buy is possible for the portable Minecraft version. If you own the game on PS3 or PS4, you can purchase it on Vita. In May, Mojang, the developer, Mojang said the asking price for the game is $20. As with PS3 You can transfer saves between PS3 and Vita and DLC purchases are available across both editions.
Mojang announced at the time that it was in talks with Sony "to enable upgrade from Blu-ray disc Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition Minecraft: Playstation 3 and Vita". We've contacted Sony to find out if players who have Minecraft on PS3 Blu-ray also have access to the Vita version for free. We're still waiting on release dates for the Vita retail version. The next week's launch will be restricted to PSN.
It's still a bustling time at MinecraftHQ, which has become Microsoft following the $2.5 billion acquisition Mojang and its popular games. Minecraft's PS4 version is now available to purchase through the storefronts online for the latest generation consoles. The Xbox One disc version will be available in US stores starting November 18.
