The upcoming debut album from Finnish indie-folk quintet Koria Kitten Riot is a rousing return to the genre. The band is fronted by Antti Reikko, and it's the band's first full-length release. The album's songwriting is lush and layered, with acoustic guitars, harmony vocals, a steel guitar, and synthesizers. The album ends with an epic track, featuring strings, guitar feedback, horns, and a synthesizer.
As the frontwoman of Koria Kitten Riot, Antti Reikko crafts melodic songs with thoughtful lyrics. While drawing inspiration from Wilco, Elliott Smith, and The Flaming Lips, Reikko's songwriting is uniquely her own. The band recorded its album in Berlin, Germany, in the summer of 2012, with producer Simon Frontzek.

When you listen to the new album Songs of Hope and Science by Koria kitten Riot, you can't help but feel uplifted. The band's acoustic guitar pop is infused with a 60s folk rock feel and incorporates harmony singing. Their lyrics are whimsical, oftentimes referencing a different planet in the universe, and weave hope and science together in an interesting and uplifting way. Though the album contains a touch of darkness, it does contain a positive note.
This Finnish quartet has three previous albums, and each one has its own distinctive sound and style. The band has a somewhat psychedelic sound to its music, with some harmonies. However, it's difficult to call this album 'hopeful' in the sense that it's rife with melancholy lyrics. However, it's hard to deny that "Songs of Hope and Science" is a highly recommended album for all fans of electronic music.
