With the release of their third album Songs of Hope and Science on 27 January, British rockers Koria Kitten Riot have made a strong statement with their psychedelic and 60s folk rock sound. The harmonies of the band's members make them sing in unison throughout the album, while the lyrics are infused with hope and science. The lyrics intertwine these two themes and draw inspiration from psychedelic/Beatles/XTC.

Finns are no strangers to indie rock; but the latest album from Helsinki, Finland, has a different kind of edge. The melodic songs by Antti Reikko and Koria Kitten Riot are often reminiscent of the work of Elliott Smith, Neil Young, or Sufjan Stevens. Despite the similarities, they still have distinct differences.
Koria Kitten Riot began as a solo project, fronted by Antti Reikko, and have since grown into a five-piece touring band. They have released two albums so far, and are now working on their third. The album was recorded in Berlin in June and July 2012, and was mixed by producer Simon Frontzek. Listeners will be pleased to learn that the band cites Elliott Smith and Wilco as influences.
