Koria Kitten Riot - Highs and Lows
I've recently finished reading Antti Reikko's newest book, Koria Kitten Riot. It was an unexpected pleasure to pick up, and it deserves your attention. Read on for my thoughts. I loved it! Here are the Highs and Lows:

Antti Reikko

Finland's Koria Kitten Riot is a melodic, energetic Indie-Pop outfit fronted by Antti Reikko. The Finnish musician draws inspiration from artists like Elliott Smith, Wilco, and The Flaming Lips for his songs. Koria Kitten Riot has been recording their third album since June 2012, and the new album, 'As I Am', has been released on the label 'Baby'. The band recorded the album in Berlin with producer Simon Frontzek.

On his solo LP, "Sinners in the Sun", Reikko plays everything himself, including guitars, synthesizers, mandolins, piano, and harmonica. His bassist and drummer from Johnny Superhero contributed bass and drum tracks. The whole album was recorded in Reikko's bedroom. Eino Anttila mixed the album's final tracks.

Their new album, Rich Men Poor Men Good, is out October 17 and features 117 beats and a few recognizable influences.

Unlike other indie pop groups, Koria Kitten Riot's third album, An Anthem From the 80s, features a high average beat-per-minute (BPM). The slowest song on the album clocks in at just under 79 BPM, while the fastest tracks clock in at 178 BPM. The band's sound is reminiscent of the indie-pop bands of the mid-2000s, but their music has evolved over the years.

Songs of Hope and Science

Originally from Australia, Koria Kitten Riot released Songs of Hope and Science on 27 January, 2016. Their guitar pop sound is infused with psychedelic influences and tie-dyed guitars. Lyrics intertwine the themes of science and hope, bringing together the two in a way that is both uplifting and poignant. The band's sound recalls XTC/Beatles/psychedelic rock.

The four-member band combines psychedelic elements with a strong sense of harmony. While the title implies that this record is hopeful, the lyrics are somewhat melancholy. Koria Kitten Riot's music is best enjoyed in its entirety. Although this album is a little too long, it's a solid listen. Listen to it and let your emotions flow.
