How NFT NYC Grew Into The Super Bowl Of NFTs, According To Its Co-Founder
Blockchains provide NFTs with proof of ownership and make the buying, selling, and trading of NFTs more efficient and less susceptible to fraud. Maybe it’s a good thing that the hype has slowed, that the over speculative nature of flippers and money markets have cooled down? There are certainly many opportunities to be had in Web3 and from the looks of things we will continue to grow, build, and improve. nft and speaker at this year’s conference was Radio City Music Hall, and the one and only Spike Lee. NFT NYC 2022 was filled with emerging NFT projects and industry experts.
While countless attendees clamored to see celebrities, like Spike Lee or Kimbal Musk speak about their general feelings on NFTs, those showcasing their blockchain-based innovation were left with mostly empty rooms. The most prominent were, of course, the Ape Fest from Bored Ape Yacht Club and Kevin Rose’s NFT community PROOF, plus their Moonbirds party at the iconic Webster Hall. Looking at the web3 community through the tech lens, I see room for improvement. Just like its event organization needs work, the community is a bit behind the latest engineering practices. There are countless applications of NFTs present in New York, which proves that nearly every industry wants to explore whether blockchain is a fitting way to progress.
The idea was to bring together NFT creators and collectors in one place, whether using NFTs for art, music, games or web development everyone is welcome. There really is no other place where you'll perhaps see the future of Web 3 and entertainment in one place. NFT NYC was a great opportunity for satellite events and, in my opinion, they were the best part. For the first of its kind to be of this scale was incredible.
An experiential community center for a diverse mix of builders and creators to spend time in NYC. We will be collaborating on a 4-day hackathon event with GameFi and DAO innovation as the primary focus, providing valuable opportunities for builders to engage with Harmony in meaningful ways. Two NFT projects launching on Harmony will be featured at this event.
After a press-only morning, panels were free and open to the public at Moonlight Studios in SoHo. More than 1,000 guests attended, including Web3, crypto, and DeFi professionals, and fashion influencers. “For food, we provided quintessentially urban New York-style pizzas, making this a block party that both looked and tasted great,” MacIntyre said. All custom builds at Gutter City, including the pizzeria, were provided courtesy of local fabrication and rental company propNspoon. The main event space—Gutter City—was accessed through a speakeasy-style entrance.
Beyond great music and the “immaculate vibes” as described by one Twitter user, there were even Tarot readings and a flash tattoo studio set up. The World Trade Center is hosting its first-ever NFT art show, presenting work from five female-identifying artists on the space’s 100-yard screen. Curated by Afrodet Zuri, the show aims to illustrate the equalizing potential of Web3 to be a space where artists are valued independent of their race or gender.
