Monthly subscription boxes are a fascinating idea that allows subscribers to pay a cost to receive things like T-shirts, toys such as makeup or food items that they have no control over. Companies like Loot Crate, Fancy, Graze and Dollar Shave Club all utilise the model however, there's a brand new entrant on the scene: Mojang. That's right, Minecraft now has its own swag box.

For a monthly fee of $30, Mojang says it will send subscribers a unique "Mine Chest" full of "hand-picked, official, Minecraft items." Although the exact contents are not known, Mojang promises customers a t-shirt, crafting recipes, and other collectibles every month.
MineCon 2015 saw the unveiling of the Mine Chest for the first time. Mojang offered the keys available to 5,000 beta attendees to ensure they had the first boxes, but it's now open to everyone. While it sounds like the ideal gift for anyone who's a Minecraft player however, it comes with a few stipulations.
Mojang first requires subscribers to select a monthly subscription. This is billed in advance and deliveries won't start until May. Mojang says that paying up front will allow it to better serve customers by purchasing high-quality items in greater quantities to drive costs down. Next, a $7 shipping cost will be added to each monthly Mine Chest. Mine Chests are only available in the US at the moment. Mojang blames the high cost of shipping for its exclusivity, but claims that it is "working very hard" in order to reduce them.
