Avanos Medical, FDA and FDA and FDA have issued an Class 1 Recall for about 629 units of CORTRAK*2's Ental Access System. https://medicaldevices.icij.org/devices/hkg-cortrak-2-enteral-access-system-eas This feeding tube device has been linked to numerous deaths and injuries.
The devices that were recalled were released between April 1st between 2016 and January 1, 2022. These devices are used by healthcare professionals to place feeding tubes into stomachs or in the intestines.
Avanos Medical Avanos Medical Nasogastric or Nasoenteric tubes that were not properly placed have led to 23 deaths and 60 injury reports since the year 2015.
The recall is used to alter the device's label , which instructs users to confirm that the tube is properly set up prior to feeding.
Avanos Medical According to FDA adverse events, they include respiratory failure as well as pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and perforation, a hole in the bowel or wall of the lungand pneumonia (a lung infection), and the pleural effusion (excess liquid that has accumulated in the space between your lungs and the chest cavity).
