Common user errors

If your game's world doesn't match the map here in any way, it's most likely to be due to one of the following:



You entered the wrong coordinates or seed You selected the incorrect version or edition (the one used to generate the area you are looking at) You used mods or resource packs that affect world generation - (for slime chunks) you didn't wait long enough, as slime chunks have a low spawn rate, even in slime chunks.





Mixed version worlds

If you start your world with an older version of the app, you will have to switch between the two versions in the app. Always select the version that was used to create the chunks you're looking at.





Coastlines

The coastlines for versions 1.18 and up aren't exactly the same. This isn't due to a bug but rather because the map shows the underlying biomes instead of the exact terrain. Near coastlines rivers and ocean biomes usually have land. Land biomes can, however, be underwater.





Limitations are known

Many features are not 100% accurate. For example, some locations could be inaccurate or not present. These include:



Dungeons-End Cities on bedrock Edition-World Spawn Positions-Amethyst Geodes (near mine shafts, caves, etc.)



Many other structures, such as villages and igloos might fail to generate in-game well, but this will be less frequent than the features mentioned above.





Requirements


Seed

For technical reasons, it is necessary to know the seeds of your own world before you can use Seed Map, unless, obviously, you're trying to find a seed for an entirely new world. The app can retrieve the seed from your savegame when you are playing SSP. You can also use the /seed command inside game. If you're granted enough rights to do so, you can also make use of the same command in SMP. You're still dependent on the server owner who created the world and has access the savegame and configuration files.





Browser

This application uses the latest web technologies. Some features may not be available in older browsers. I recommend that you use the most current version of a popular browser like Chrome, Firefox Edge, Edge, Safari, Edge or Safari.





Usage


Seed Selection

The first thing to do is select a seed and a version. You can enter it manually, or load it from your savegame. This can be done by clicking on "Load from Save ..."" and selecting your level.dat. You can drag and drop the level.dat file directly into your browser. Level.dat is tiny file that is located in the folder of each Minecraft savegame. You can locate the savegames in the saves folder of your Minecraft installation. On Windows you can use %appdata%.minecraftsaves to get to that folder.



It is important to know that seeds are always an integer (up to around 20 digits). Other inputs, such as letters, will be converted into a number. The app does this in the same way Minecraft does, so it's safe to use letters (and other characters) too.





Dimension and Features Selection

Below the seed and version, you can choose the Minecraft dimension that you want to view (Overworld, Nether or End). This, along with the version you use will determine the features that are available. Minecraft Click on the icons to toggle specific features.



Click the arrow to the right of the box to either expand or to collapse the box with features. This will show the complete names of all the features, as well as additional options.



Some features only appear if you zoom in enough. This is to keep the app quick and not to overflow it with icons. Once the warning is displayed, all affected features will be highlighted in the app.





Navigation

Once you entered all the options, you are able to begin using the map. To scroll use the Arrow keys while your mouse's cursor is pointed at the map. Or move your mouse while holding the left mouse button. You can utilize the slider below the map or your mousewheel to allow zooming. The lower inputs permit you to navigate to a specific location (e.g. your base) of the map and then set markers there. Double-clicking on the map will allow you to remove or add the marker. You can save the map you are currently viewing by clicking the "Save Map" button.





Selecting the right place for your structure

You can tap or click on the icons on the map to view their exact coordinates in the game. For certain structures, additional information is included as well.





Touchscreen

If you are using a device with a touchscreen there is an additional option for activating and disabling touchscreen control will appear below the map. With that option enabled you can drag the map using your fingers to navigate, you can pinch to zoom in or out, and press and hold to create a marker on the map. Double-tap on the map to enable or disable this functionality.
