To draw attention to the plight of mangroves and the vital benefits they provide, Minecraft created Rooted Together,
Interactive map that lets players explore the mangrove-based ecosystem in-game
.
The game allows players to plant mangroves, track CO2 levels, and observe new wildlife. It's an interactive demonstration of how trends in climate, biodiversity, and climate change affect the health of mangrove habitats. The more mangroves players plant, the less likely climate change will be and the more animals that are able to return to their habitats.
TNC Conservation Support
Mojang Studios will contribute $200,000 to TNC to help us achieve our goals and the in-game interaction of mangrove ecosystems. OCCITIES In addition, Minecraft creators hosted individual charity streams this past July reaching 33,500 live viewers, and more than 350,000 views on video on demand. The creators played Minecraft live and assisted in educating viewers on the importance of mangroves around the world and also shared some of TNC's efforts to protect and restore this crucial ecosystem.
