How to Install & Play Minecraft Updates

Begin by opening the Minecraft launcher. If you don't have the launcher you can download it here. The launcher will display the most recent release. If not, click the left arrow just to the right of the play button and select "Latest Release". Easy!



IOS or ANDROID



Open Google Play or App Store on your device and type in "Minecraft". If Minecraft is already installed you will be asked to upgrade it if it isn't. Simply click "Open" to install the latest version.



XBOX



Select Minecraft from the "My Games & Apps" menu, then click the"more options. Select "Manage game and add-ons" from the list. Next you will need to click "Updates". Updates will be posted here. If there are no updates, your game will be fully updated.



PLAYSTATION 4



Minecraft for PS4 should update automatically. If updates aren't scheduled to be automatic on your PS4, you can select the game by clicking the 'options' menu and then select 'check for updates in the new menu.



Minecraft for Windows should automatically update to the latest version. If not, open Microsoft Store, select the three dots at the upper right corner, and select "Downloads and updates". From here, select "Get updates" and all installed applications will be updated (including Minecraft)!



NINTENDO SWITCH



If you own Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition then you just need to start the game and an announcement window will appear with information about the new Minecraft. You can click on the button to be redirected directly to the eShop, where you can download the latest version of Minecraft. Minecraft news Alternately, you can go to the eShop and search for a game that is exclusively "Minecraft". FIRE TV



Go to Store by hovering over the magnifying glass icon. Type "Minecraft" and then click when it is displaying to download the update. Once the update is downloaded the icon will pop up in the Home tab under "Recent". To update Minecraft you need to highlight Minecraft and press the menu button (3 horizontally aligned lines) and click "More Info". The button for 'Update' will appear in the description of the game. Clicking it activates the update.
