Old School Runescape's first Brand new Mode in Years is a Hardcore Co-op Odyssey

Introduced in 2014 Ironman mode allowed Old School Runescape players test their skills with an completely self-sufficient challenge. The nostalgic MMO lets you share the load with your teammates and lets you tackle the world without external help.

The announcement was made today. Group Ironman (opens in a new tab) is the first major game mode to be released in Old School Runescape within a half-decade. Group Ironman/Ironwoman is a variation on the Ironman/Ironwoman game modes. It has many of the same restrictions as Ironman/Ironwoman game modes, such as no trading and no drop from other players' kills and no grand exchange. The goal of this mode is to make your character self-sufficient but allows you to extend those restrictions to multiple players.

You can share equipment and other items within the group. There is also storage that is shared. Outside of the social walls, you must follow the Ironman rules and can't ask for help from other players. It's a social, less intimidating way to try one of the game's toughest challenges and it's something Old School Runescape players wanted to see.

In an announcement, Jagex stated that Group Ironman was among the most popular new additions in OSRS history. Since it is a genuinely nostalgic client, updates in OSRS are voted on by the users and are only released when they reach the threshold of 75% approval. Runescape Jagex estimates that around 140,000 players voted in Group Ironman. The approval rate is around 80%, making it an easy way to join.

Group Ironman can be enabled at the midpoint of tutorial island with you and your adventuring buds gathering at the Iron Tutor on The Node.
