Readers' Ideas for WoW Improvements

A while ago WoW Insider posted an article asking readers to suggest things they'd like to include in WoW to improve the experience. The art of kerembeyit We were thrilled to get your responses , and you didn't disappoint. Many commenters had great ideas that we thought were really great. We decided to pull them out for further discussion.

To my mind, a great idea. When leveling a DPS character, I've been unable to decide between wanting to complete the story in a particular area, and then moving on in my leveling. It's simple to level up areas in WoW by using the bonuses from guild perks, jewelry and other items. Now, of course, the option exists to simply ignore the gray mobs and the gray quests and the fact that you're being much less efficient than moving to another zone however, why should players make that decision?

There's also the option to return to old zones or old content at 90, but there's definitely something to be said about experiencing zones at level. This change could make the game more immersive and more rich in story and replay value. The players would be able to spend longer in each zone, and have more areas to explore as well as new characters to play through.

This was a suggestion made by many commenters, and not only ladyjbritish. Like the previous suggestion, it seems like an extremely sensible idea. You might send one toon into a server to test it out, or check if a guild for raiding is available, but it's not surprising that players be eager to bring their entire group to the new server if it meets their requirements.

Another commenter stated that they would love to see this feature made available at a lower cost than the cost of a new game. This is a valid point. If the options are to remain on a dying server, or pay a large amount of money to transfer several characters, or to buy an entirely new game for less money it is logical that people would certainly consider the new game to be a viable option. Yes, you can restart on a new server, however, it's difficult to abandon your characters.

A similar update is scheduled for an coming patch. Players will be able to queue for multiple LFR sections at the same time, but MaikS89 goes even further by stating that players should be able to queue for offline characters. In the beginning, I am a fan of the idea, it's an excellent way to save time, especially for DPS who have long queues. But there are definitely downsides that I find an unavoidable option than the aforementioned ideas. It could make it more difficult for players to play a character as often. While you currently can queue for LFR while queued for, and indeed doing other activities, a change to allow an offline character to queue appears to be a step too far.

On the other hand, it could allow players with an main that needs some LFR equipment or valor, or many other alts that require leveling or other gear, to finish all that in a shorter period of time. I'm not sure about this What do you think?

This method is much more secure and is a better option. One factor that is against it might be fears for server economies, with players doing things like transferring huge amounts of gems and other materials from server to server in order to profit from superior markets. But it is possible that this may be a bit restricted. It would be wonderful to have a universal bank account that new characters could draw from or for heirlooms to be transferred to other characters. This could solve a lot of problems with minor inconveniences but it would be a significant improvement in the quality of life.

This request might be more niche. Personally, I would like to play across the two regions, so that I can play with my friends in the EU and those in the US on the same accounts, without having to create accounts that are US-specific to play across the Atlantic. Although the ping might not be the most efficient, I can still play on the US PTR servers and live servers with little difficulty. This could be implemented across other games, too, to allow cross-region play and accounts. This is a great idea!
