Minecrafter Creates a Giant Halo ring that actually Freaking Spins

Home News Survival Minecraft Minecrafter builds a giant Halo ring that actually freaking spins

Published by Lauren Morton, 4 January 22,

It requires a few mods however, you can download it and explore it yourself.

If there's one thing that a world made of cubes shouldn't do, it's circle. But a lot of Minecraft players love to defy the rules to create impressive circular structures. One brave builder has gone one step further, tossing every law of games out the window to build a ring that rotates. A complete, moving Halo ring with beam emitters, biomes, and even a crashed Pelican. The best part is that you can download the ring and explore it yourself.

Reach A., a Minecraft YouTuber, claims that his Halo ring was inspired by an idea shared by another creator. This smaller world of a ring is impressive, however, commenters on the post suggested it could be even more impressive if it actually worked. Reach decided to take on the task by using WorldEdit and the Create mod to build and engineer a ring that actually moves.

It was a major undertaking. https://jho88.com/ To control the ring's movements it was used the Clockwork Bearing blocks from the Create mod. A single clockwork bearing attached to the ring's rim couldn't complete the task, it turned out. He explains that the ring generated by Minecraft was too big to render the first attempt to move it.

Reach decided to break it up into four sections with the help of a rotating bearing and an arm. Reach ended up with eight bearings that were attached to the four sections of the ring to form spokes. He says he was convinced it would fail, but his stubbornness and desire to make something new for YouTube and his followers was enough to make it work. After all that? Holy crap, it moves!

Planet Minecraft has the project available for download if you want to experience the wonder of a Ring-world. It's required to run on Minecraft version 1.16 along with a few other mods: Forge, Create, Flywheel, and some custom Halo textures if you'd like. Once inside, you'll manually start up the bearings to get the thing moving, but once you're on the ground it will keep ticking.

It doesn't move continuously, so you won’t be able to keep up with the hamster wheel that spins for a lifetime. The whole ring rotates in increments of 30 seconds. All the better, because I found myself a bit disoriented and motion sick exploring it in its entirety. It'll take me a while to establish my space legs. Reach also required locking each block in order to make the ring spin as it should, which means you won't be able to build or use mine here. It's more of a diorama rather than a playable world but it's still very cool.

Reach shares more details about his process in the video on YouTube below. He explains the difficulties and the choices he made in order to give the ring the Halo look.

Bless the Minecraft builders. They never stop.
