Avanos Medical (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) has announced it will recall Cortrak*2's enteral access system. The recall was announced in response to injuries sustained by patients and deaths caused by misplaced nasoenteric/nasoga tubes. The recall affects 629 devices that were sold in the United States.
Avanos has launched its Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System, which is known for its on-screen visualization of the stomach or small bowel, which can aid in the proper positioning of a medical feed tube. Incorrectly inserting a tube can cause damage to vocal cords, the lungs and trachea.
