There is also an option to save games, which allows players to share their own custom made world with other players.
Minecraft is a wildly popular indie game. Millions of players join to play it every month on various platforms. It is played on Mac and PC, and has sold more than 20 million copies to date. There is also a Pocket Edition available on Android and iOS which has sold over 30 million copies. Minecraft was also released for Xbox 360 consoles on May 9, 2012. It sold 400,000 copies within 24 hours and beat previous Xbox Live Arcade sales records. It was created by 4J Studios. Minecraft on the 360 has sold more than 12 million copies since its launch in May of 2012.
The game also launched on PlayStation 3 on December 17 the 17th of December, 2013. It had sold more than 1 million copies as of January 24 in 2014. Minecraft has also joined the next-gen console world by launching on the PlayStation 4 on September 4 and 2014, as well as the Xbox One on September 5, 2014.
