I needed to update Java this morning and I was in a hurry. I went through the first page of the install wizard, not really paying attention and then remembered I should have paid attention and noticed that it would install the Ask.com app. Grrr.

I could have cancelled it but I ploughed on. After the installation there was no evidence that the extension was installed. When I restarted the browser, Chrome reported that the extension "Search App By Ask 2" was added!
I went through my settings for my search engine and didn't enable it. The website ask.com was there however it was not set as the default engine. Minecraft Servers It was gone!
I'm not happy that Oracle put a browser toolbar within the installation of the Java runtime. I'm wondering how many children who installed Java to play Minecraft have this toolbar installed now?
