I completed my degree with a first in Artificial intelligence from the University of Edinburgh this year.
Unfortunately, McEwan hall was closed for refurbishment so I didn't complete my degree. McEwan hall was closed for renovations, so I only saw it during my second year Probability exam. It was not a good time to stare at the ceiling's artwork.
We chose Usher Hall as a surrogate, which is where most orchestras and chamber music events are held.
Given how diminutive the informatics class is, we got joined with the School of Engineering. In the end, we were awarded two honorary degrees speeches. I don't know what the engineering guy did. The Computer Science speaker got the deal to develop minecraft for the X-box.
That's a good guess.
One of the quirks of the University of Edinburgh is that we don't wear mortarboard cap. Instead, all students wear the same cap. The vice-chancellor taps each graduate on the head as they walk across the stage.
Fun fact: Piers Sellers offered the cap to be transported into space. Spaceships can explode, so the hat was important. A university emblem was sent to space and embroidered on the hat.
I was booed on my head by the space-hat.
I was able to purchase enough tickets for my grandparents and parents. My family visited just a few weeks before and we walked across Ireland and the highlands.
Jammy was granted a free-morning, and I had a single ticket. Offtopichut.com In the end, I was able to get Jam-Jam, the father of polar bears, his first name, to come to my graduation.
