Minecraft film is'set to hit silver screen'

Hugely popular block-building game Minecraft could soon be made into a film.
Markus Persson, Minecraft creator told this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the Minecraft project.
Mr Persson claimed he disclosed the information to stop another person who tried to divulge details about the transaction.
Movie news site Deadline revealed that one of the producers of the recent Lego Movie is handling the project.
Warner was planning to make the "live action" version of the game into a feature film according to Deadline.
Work on the film is at a very beginning stage, as Warner has only recently acquired the rights to utilize Minecraft's iconic blocks characters and monsters.
This news comes less than two months after Mojang, Minecraft creator, shut down the Kickstarter campaign to raise money to create a film that was based on the game.
Film adaptations of top-selling games have had a turbulent past in Hollywood and many projects do not get beyond the initial planning stage.
For example, a movie set in the science-fictional Halo universe has been in development for the past nine years, but filming has not yet to begin despite multiple scripts being written.

Similar films based on Bioshock and Gears of War have been discussed, but there is no film that has begun filming.
World of Warcraft is a game that is being made into a film. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film will be released in the first quarter of 2016.
