Setting Up a New IP Booting Server
IP Booting is a technique where a small computer installed on a network device, such as a ip booter or router, can be configured to provide a booting environment at a remote site. This technique is commonly used by large businesses with offices around the world to provide a consistent system environment for their employees. This guide will walk you through the process of installing and configuring an IP Booting environment on your computer or smartphone. To begin, you will need to download and install the ip boter application on your device of choice. After it is installed, you will need to create an account with the application. You will then be asked to choose a secure password for your account. After you make this choice, click on the "create new server" button at the bottom of the page to initiate the process of setting up a new IP Booting server. This page will guide you through the process, step-by-step.
Set The IP and Boot Files Of The Server The first step in setting up a new IP Booting server is to identify the IP address of the server. To do this, you will need to enter the subnet mask of the network interface you're using on your device (usually 192.168.1.0). When you enter this information, click the "save" button at the bottom of the page to confirm the settings. Now that you've entered the IP address of the server, the next step is to point the device's web browser to the IP address of the server. When this is complete, you will see a screen like this:

The IP address you provided is valid. You can now access the media services of the server. Any requests made while you were still logged in will be handled by this server. To see all the features of this program, click here (opens in new tab)
Create Your User Account With Cloudflare Now that you've set up the IP and boot files of the server, you will need to create an account with the ip boter application. This account will be used to identify you as the person who owns the device and therefore has access to the files and resources of the server. To create your account, click the "create new user" button at the top of the page. Next, enter a username and a password and click on the "create" button. You will see this page:

Your new account has been created successfully. You can now log in with your username and password. To protect your privacy, your login details can be stored in a safe place and not shared with any other parties. If you are new to Cloudflare, click here to (learn more) and create a new account.
After you've created your account with Cloudflare, click on the "settings" tab at the top of the page to make changes to your account. You can choose your own password for your account and can set a recovery email address in case you forget your password.
Update Your Network Devices To Be IP Booting Enabled All network devices, such as switches and routers, have a configuration setting which will determine whether or not they can act as an IP Booting server. These devices will need to be updated to be able to support an IP Booting server. To do this, connect the device to the internet and navigate to this page (look for the IP Booting entry and make sure that it is set to Yes):

Smart Phone / Tablet Configuration: Double-click on the entry for your network device and select "Provision IP Booting" from the popup menu. In the "Configure this device to provide a booting environment" window that opens, click Yes, I'll configure this device to provide a booting environment.
After you've updated your network devices to be IP Booting enabled, you will need to download and install the ip boter application on your computer or smartphone. This application will be used to manage and control the IP Booting server. To install the ip boter application, click on the "Start" button on your device to open the Applications menu and search for "ip boter". Once it is found, click on the application to open it on your device. You will see this screen:

You will now need to create an account with the program. When this is complete, click on the "settings" tab to see your account settings. To create a server, click on the "create new server" button at the bottom of the page.
You should now have an account with ip boter and a server that is provisioned and enabled for IP Booting. From here, you can click on the "servers" tab at the top of the page to see all the servers you've created.
Configure The Server To Be Accessible From Outside The Home Network When you first set up an IP Booting server, you will be given the option of placing the server behind a firewall on your home network. This is a good idea to protect your computer and other devices on your home network from threats such as hackers. However, if you take this option, make sure that all of your devices are configured to be able to connect to the Internet through the gateway of the firewall. To do this, you will need to log in with your Cloudflare account and visit this page (look for the IP Booting entry and make sure that it is set to No):

Smart Phone / Tablet Configuration: Double-click on the entry for your network device and select "Provision IP Booting" from the popup menu. In the "Configure this device to provide a booting environment" window that opens, click No, I want to keep this device's settings as they are.
If you decide that you do not want to place the server behind a firewall on your home network, you will need to download and install a third-party VPN app on your phone or computer. This VPN app will allow you to securely connect to the Internet and access websites and apps that you would not normally be able to browse or use from within the country's firewall. Installing a VPN app on your device is very similar to the process of installing the ip boter application. To install the VPN app, click on the "Start" button on your device to open the Applications menu and search for "vpn". Once it is found, click on the application to open it on your device.
You should now have an account with ip boter and a server that is provisioned and enabled for IP Booting. From here, you can click on the "servers" tab at the top of the page to see all the servers you've created.
Back Up Your Server Frequently An IP Booting server is a valuable resource which you will need to protect. To do this, you will need to create a regular back up of your server and restore the back up whenever you need to. To create a back up of your server, click the "servers" tab at the top of the page and then click on the "back up" button next to the server you want to back up. A window will then appear with all the information necessary to back up your server. Enter this data into a clear text document and store it somewhere safe. Restoring from a back up is very simple. Navigate to this page (look for the Back Up tab at the top of the page):

Smart Phone / Tablet Configuration: Double-click on the entry for your network device and select "Provision IP Booting" from the popup menu. In the "Configure this device to provide a booting environment" window that opens, click Yes, I'll back up my settings.
After you've created your back up, you will need to download and install the ip boter application on your computer or smartphone. This application will be used to restore your server should it become damaged or corrupted. To restore from a back up, click on the "settings" tab at the top of the page and then click on the "restore server" button next to the server you want to restore. A window will then appear with all the information necessary to restore your server. Enter this data into a clear text document and store it somewhere safe.
