Learning about your government and your country is not always the most exciting thing in the world. This is why the Danish Geodata Agency recreated the entire country of Denmark in 1:1 scale inside of Minecraft to make learning more fun. The Internet decided to teach the Danes a lesson about... we don't even know. 30TT Why can't the world have nice things?
In spite of the DGA switching off dynamite on the map they designed which comprised more than 4 trillion blocks and 1 terabyte of data - intrepid Minecraft gamers discovered that the game's the in-game carts that carried the dynamite were in operation. This allowed players to destroy areas in virtual Denmark and place American flags or tanks in their place. Classy.
Chris Hammeken, a DGA spokesperson, stated to The Register in the UK that the map was only affected and that the DGA did not intend to restart the map. "We believe that this is a characteristic of playing Minecraft elements are destroyed and new are being created," Hammeken said. "Therefore we won't re-launch the game of Denmark in Minecraft. We may occasionally rebuild minor areas, in the event that buildings have been destroyed and nothing is being built.
