Minecraft Convention Firm Sorry over Peterborough's Infamous Event

Minecraft convention firm is sorry about Peterborough's event that was a victim of complaints.

15 September 2015

After angry parents criticized the convention on social media, organizers of a Minecraft convention declared that they were "truly sorry".

However, dozens of people claimed they sat for hours waiting to meet famous players and demanded refunds.

O'Brien Event Management stated that the new system would be put in place to cut down queues in the near future.

The informal convention, which was not approved by Minecraft's developer Mojang fans had the opportunity to meet some famous "Youtubers" and take photos and play games.

Lisa O'Brien, at O'Brien Event Management, had previously informed the BBC the queues were over 45 minutes due to a large amount of people who turned to the event instead of purchasing tickets in advance.

A second statement that was posted on the website of the company reads: "We are truly genuinely regretful that our event did not meet some people's expectations.

"MineVention" is a meet-and-greet event, and there will be queuing. However it will offer youngsters the chance to meet their heroes.

"We have taken all of your feedback regarding the event into consideration and, in the future, we will be putting in a new system for queuing and will be adding more content."

Peterborough Arena, responsible for catering, also released a statement blaming the long lines and the "sheer" amount of people who walked through the doors the day.

Both parties said they would respond to all disgruntled parents who have contacted them in due course.

Refunds haven't been discussed, however some parents claimed they received them the next day after contacting staff.

Online ticketing company YPlan stated that it was "actively looking for information on the event's organizer to better understand its position regarding refunds, and will seek compensation for all of our customers who were unhappy with the event."
